What is 40 Days of Love? 40 Days of Love is a completely new church-wide, six-week personal growth emphasis featuring a group-based DVD study series taught by Pastor Rick Warren, and an accompanying series of weekend messages.
In addition, to help us grow together we will study the same meditation verse daily. And, because a primary goal of 40 Days of Love is to put what we learn into action, groups will also choose a practical “Reaching Out in Love” project to do together.
Is 40 Days of Love something I can bring my friends who don’t go to church? YES! 40 Days of Love is focused on how to love as Jesus did, so it will have an impact on everyone, whether you’re a seeker, a stumbler or a saint! We all have a desire for deeper, more authentic relationships, so this is a perfect study to invite any friend to join. Discussions on topics such as forgiveness, selflessness, and kindness will hit at the heart of what we all need to renew and strengthen our relationships.
Host/Leader FAQs
Will I have help? Yes you will! The 40 Days of Love DVD/video curriculum gives host tips and is a main part of your group lessons.
Do I need to be a “Bible Expert” to host a group? Definitely not! All you need is a desire to serve the members of your group and to grow in your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. When you take this step of faith, the Holy Spirit will give you what you need to be an effective host. If you decide to continue the group past 40 days, we’ll continue to provide DVD/video curriculum much like what you’ll be using during 40 Days of Love. We’ll also help with additional training and coaching.
How will I get people for my group? You and the members of your group should invite your friends, neighbors, co-workers, family, etc., to join the group. This is the best way to get new members, and it’s how most 40 Days groups start. Pray before you invite someone new. Ask God to soften his or her heart and then step out in faith and make the invitation. This campaign is about relational renewal. We’ll learn to value relationships, to love others as Jesus loves us, to communicate from the heart, to refrain from judging others, and to treat others the way we want them to treat us.
